A Clinical Audit to Record and Monitor Cardiovascular Diseases 

SURF is an international clinical audit that aims to simplify the recording and management of cardiovascular risk factors in routine cardiology clinics for patients with established coronary heart disease. A welcome initiative by University Medical Centre Utrecht and Trinity College Dublin in collaboration with the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr. Ilonca Vaartjes

Dr. Ilonca Vaartjes is Associate Professor ofJulius Center for Health Sciences, Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Her main research focus is the use of nationwide register data for health research. She joined in the MedCHAMPS project and got involved in the development of a stroke prevention policy model for Turkey. She published in high-ranking journals in Cardiovascular, Neurology, Epidemiological and Public Health domain. 

Dr. Vaartjes was involved in the Healthy Urban Living Program of Utrecht University and is now project leader of Health Research in the Global Geo Health Data Center. She is the deputy editor of the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology and vice chair of the Utrecht Health Project (Leidsche Rijn Gezondheidsproject).
